General Educational Development(GED®)
GED courses are designed for adults who have not received a high school diploma. Courses prepare students for the five official GED® tests: Language Arts-Writing, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts - Reading, and Mathematics. The GED diploma certifies that the graduate has achieved a level of general educational development equivalent to that of high school diploma recipients. Graduation ceremonies are held once a year.
Classes are offered at the Henderson County Campus (at the STAR Center), the Transylvania County Campus, and at several off-campus locations.
Students who take the Official GED® Tests are charged a $25.00 testing fee, which covers all five GED® exams in the series.
Official GED® Tests are offered in English and Spanish. The Henderson County Campus and the Transylvania County Campus are Official GED® Testing Centers.
Upon completion of the test battery with passing scores, the High School Diploma (equivalency) is awarded by the North Carolina Community College System.
