How do I register for class?

What classes do you offer?
We have many courses to offer within Continuing Education. You may ask us to mail a schedule to your home, or you may drop by our office to pick one up. Schedules are also available at many locations throughout the community such as the public library and chambers of commerce. The schedule is also available online.
How much will this class cost?
Registration fees and procedures for payment may vary by program area. Registration fees are due at the time of registration. Students are not enrolled until all registration fees are paid. Registration fees are indicated at the end of each course listing in the schedule, are subject to change, and may vary by program area. Students are responsible for buying supplies and materials as necessary. Books are usually available through the College bookstore. The registration fee for continuing education computer classes includes a $5 computer use and technology fee. This fee is required of all students enrolled in continuing education computer classes, and is not refundable. Some courses require accident insurance while in class. For these courses, the $1.30 insurance fee is included in the registration fee and is required of all participants.
Is Financial Aid available for continuing education classes?
The Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation sets aside some funds specifically for continuing education students each year. You may download a copy of the scholarship application , or you may come by the continuing education main office in Room 123 to pick one up.
I haven't had the prerequisite, can I still take the class?
Prerequisites are necessary to insure that the student is adequately prepared for the course they are interested in taking.
What class am I in? When does it start? What time? What classroom?
Invariably people register and forget when, where, how and why. Please refer back to the current schedule of courses ... or call us at 694-1735.
What about tuition exemptions for Continuing Education classes?
As set forth in Chapter 115D-5 of the General Statutes, full-time North Carolina residents 65 years of age or older will be exempt from the registration fees for Occupational Extension courses. There are no senior exemptions for Self-Supporting (SEF) or Community Enrichment (CSP) courses.
How can I get a transcript?
Transcripts can be obtained by coming by and filling out a transcript request form or by sending a letter with name, social security number and mailing address. Signature is required.
When will I get my certificate?
Certificates are usually printed three weeks after the course ends.
Where is the bookstore?
The bookstore is in the Killian building at the Henderson County Campus. Take College Drive to East Campus Drive; turn onto Alumni Way. The Killian building will be on the west end of that parking lot. Inside Killian, the bookstore is the 2nd door on your right from the front of the building. You may call the bookstore at 828-694-1720. The bookstore is in the Strauss Building at the Transylvania County Campus.
What are the bookstore hours?
The bookstore hours at the Henderson County Campus are usually Monday through Thursday 9am-6:30pm and Friday 9am-2pm. During the summer, the hours are usually Monday through Thursday 9am-4pm and Friday 9am-2pm. Hours may change during semester breaks. Bookstore hours at the Transylvania County Campus vary. You may call the bookstore at 828-694-1720 for additional information and times.
When is the Library open?
The library is open from 8a-9p Monday through Thursday and 8a-4:30p on Friday.
Is there an elevator in the Continuing Ed building?
Yes. The elevator is located in the back of the Continuing Education Building on the Henderson County Campus.
When can I use the computer lab?
The Open Lab is located in the Technology Education Development Center (TEDC) Room 102 of the Henderson County Campus and is usually open Monday through Thursday from 8am-7pm and Friday from 8am-4pm. Hours may change during semester breaks and in the summer.
Can I move to another class?
Yes, if seating is available. You must initiate an add/drop card to change classes prior to the class start.
Where do I go to register for that driving class?
Registration for defensive driving classes is done on Tuesdays between the hours of 9am-6pm in the main Continuing Education Office Room 123 of the Henderson County Campus. You must have your citation and/or authorization, drivers license, and the appropriate cash. Call 694-1742 for more information.
