Blue Ridge Community College Continuing Education Program serve more than 15,000 students in Henderson and Transylvania Counties each year. Blue Ridge Community College is able to respond quickly and flexibly to the needs of the community through continuing education programs. These programs promote the concept of lifelong learning as an essential component of contemporary adult life by offering courses and services covering a wide variety of occupational, academic and vocational subjects. A major goal is to provide services and training to area businesses and public agencies. Three Departments carry out goals of Continuing Education:

Community and Continuing Education
This department offers courses in a wide rage of occupational, academic and vocational subjects including Allied Health and Emergency Services, Environmental Health and Safety, Law Enforcement, and Small Business. In addition, this unit provides programming to the community that enriches our lives through the arts, music, Spanish, and computer technology. Professionals in this unit also provide CEUs, occupational training, and community enrichment courses and activities.

Economic and Workforce Development
The mission of the Economic and Workforce Development Department is to strengthen economic and workforce development in Henderson and Transylvania Counties through a system of career planning, training and business services. These include:
Henderson County JobLink Career Center, Human Resources Development (HRD) training, Corporate training, and Customized training.
Partnering with local and regional economic development, the department develops courses and services to meet the needs of the local workforce and business community. A variety of highly qualified instructors offer a broad-range of learning opportunities.

Basic Skills
To make progress in life, sometimes one has to acquire a set of basic skills for life and the job place. The Basic Skills Department offers GED courses, Adult Basic Education Courses (ABE), English for Speakers of Second Languages (ESOL), and other programs that pave the way for a better future for many adults.
