The Blue Ridge Community College Environmental Health and Safety Institute was established in 1998 through a combination of grants, state and local monies. To date more than a million dollars has been invested in the Institute. The 8000 square foot facility is part of the Industrial Skills Center and contains 3 laboratories, 2 classrooms, and state-of-the-art equipment for environmental and safety training. ISC Building

Current educational opportunities through the center include curriculum programs as well as continuing education training courses. Curriculum programs include an AAS, Diploma and Certificate in Environmental Science Technology. A new Continuing Education certificate program in Environmental Health and Safety Management is now available. Continuing education training includes courses required by OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO and NCDENR such as HAZWOPER, Water and Wastewater Treatment, General Industry Safety, Bacteriological Analysis of Drinking Water, and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.
