Basic Street Gang Investigations

Class overview:

The classes will provide basic, entry-level training for those who are assigned to work with street gangs. Officers/ Investigators/ Detectives or Agents that have limited experience, but some formal training in street gang investigations, to include Detention/ Corrections Officers and Assistant District Attorneys.

Advanced Street Gang Investigations

Class overview:

This course will provide advanced level Street Gang Investigations training for sworn street gang investigators, detention officers, corrections officers, intelligence analysts, security threat group investigators and other law enforcement personnel assigned to gang investigations who have had two or more years of experience in the field. Successful completion of this course requires attendance at all instructional sessions. After successful completion of the course the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from the North Carolina Gang Investigators Association.

 

Course Topics

  • Intelligence (Gang Intelligence Review, 28 CFR Part 23, Information Resources, Role of Intelligence Analysis)
  • Investigations (Legal/jurisdictional Issues, Obstacles and Problems, Gang Crimes, Complex Investigations)
  • Suppression Strategies and Tactics (Current Trends and Best Practices for Law Enforcement and Corrections, Community Partnerships)
  • Practical Exercises

Enrollment in this course is restricted to sworn Law Enforcement Officers and Criminal Justice Professionals.
