Nurse Aide General Information
For more information about any Nurse Aide program, please call (828) 694-1750.

All registration for these programs is done in-person Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. in Sink Building Room 222.

All interested persons should attend one of the following free information sessions to receive important registration and enrollment information:


Wednesday, December 3, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Transylvania County Campus, TRCT Room 204

Monday, January 12, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Henderson County Campus, Sink Building Room 223

Monday, February 16, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Transylvania County Campus, TRCT Room 204


 


Nurse Aide Orientation Course

The required Nurse Aide Orientation course is offered at the Goodwill Training Center location in Hendersonville and at the Blue Ridge Community College Transylvania County Campus in Brevard. This eight-hour course is offered as a full-day 7:50 a.m to 5 p.m. session or as two evening sessions from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pre-registration is required. Visit the Allied Health Department in the Sink Building on the Henderson County Campus or the Straus Building at the Transylvania County Campus.

Bring your driver's license or picture ID.

 Course Costs:

  • Registration Fee: $226.30 (includes insurance and supply fee)
  • Textbook: 41.75 (available at the BRCC Bookstore)
  • ID Tag: $4 (available at the BRCC Bookstore)
  • Ceil Blue Scrubs: $30 (approx.)
  • Criminal Background Check and Drug Screening: $55 (approx.—first day of class)
  • Gait Belt: $14 (approx.— needed for clinical)

Medical Prerequisite
Before enrolling in the program, students must have:

  • proof of immunization for rubella
  • two-step TB skin test 3 to 4 weeks apart with results (good thru clinical)
  • proof of the first Hepatitis B Inoculation or signed release form for Hepatitis B inoculation
  • current Tetanus

A Medical Form is available for your convenience. Health Department can provide any or all of the above medical prerequisites.

Registration Procedures for Nurse Aide I

1. The student must complete a minimum 9th grade reading on a TABE reading test or Bronze level or higher on CRC.
2. Provide proof of medical requirements (see medical form).
3. Have valid ID’S and all names must match.

Required to register:

  • signed Social Security card (cannot be laminated) or letter from SS Office
  •  current driver’s license or government-issued picture ID

4. The student must attend an 8-hour orientation class prior to registering for NA I.
5. Submit complete registration form and $226.30 in registration fees, that include:

  • registration ($180)
  • accident insurance ($1.30)
  • liability insurance ($15)
  • materials fee ($30)

$226.30 is payable to Blue Ridge Community College.

Registrations can be turned in at the Henderson campus in the Sink building Room 222 during normal hours of operation. Bring IDs, paperwork, and payment.

These fees cannot be transferable to another course. If a student officially withdraws from the course before the 10% point, 75% of the registration fee can be refunded.

6. Financial Application forms can be picked up and returned at the Continuing Education office (with two letters of recommendation) by application schedule deadline.

7. Textbook and ID Tag are required for the first class session.

Medication Aide Course
Registration Form
Policies

The course meets the training requirements needed to become a qualified Medication Aide. The course covers the administration of oral medication and the corresponding medical terminology. Students learn the Six Rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel, as well as the legal implications involved. 

Upon completion, students are prepared to sit for the competency exam and demonstrate the necessary skills.

To register, students must be on the North Carolina registry with a current Nurse Aide I license.

Nurse Aide I Refresher Course

This refresher course is designed for individuals who have had a previous listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry, and wish to recertify. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive documentation for how to apply for the State Nurse Aide Competency Testing.
