Step by Step Curriculum Registration for Distance Learners
Spring 2012
You've decided to take an Online course and understand the requirements to do so- now what? If you are strictly a DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENT (i.e. NOT attending either Henderson County Campus or Transylvania County Campus for ANY curriculum courses), please follow these procedures carefully! Pay particular attention to DATES and DEADLINES.

Online Applications for Spring Close December 1, 2011 Early Registration Appointments End December 1, 2011
Final Registration January 4, 2012 (9am - 7pm) ALL classes (traditional and online) begin January 5

Applications
|
- Distance Learning students follow the same
admissions process
as the traditional student and may apply to Blue Ridge Community College through WebAdvisor online, or by mail though the
Student Application Form
, or in person during early or regular registration.
- Payment and fees must be received on campus on or before December 29 , by 1:00pm, or your registration and schedule will be deleted.

Courses & Eligibility

- Search
WebAdvisor
to see if the course you wish to take IS offered ONLINE, and that you meet any required prerequisite(s). Click the course NAME to see the description and prerequisites. (How To

- Check WebAdvisor for current Distance Learning offerings (section 201, 202, 203 are online ONLY, sections 301+ are hybrid with classroom time).
- If you are Degree Seeking from BRCC, your faculty advisor should be able to assist you with this and you will need to communicate with them personally before you can register online. Non-degree seeking students and Continuing Education students may register online without prior approval.
NOTE If BRCC does NOT have official copies of your transcripts, and no documentation of completed prerequisites, ~ You will NOT be allowed to register for advanced level courses. It is your responsibility to provide that documentation to the Registrar BEFORE registration. |

Payment deadlines
|
Payment is due immediately upon receipt. Make check payable to BRCC and mail to:
Blue Ridge Community College Business Office, Connie Williams 180 West Campus Drive Flat Rock, NC 28731
NOTE If your payment is not received by December 29, 2011 at 1:00pm, the names of those owing tuition and fees will be DELETED from class rosters. If you are deleted, you will need to contact your advisor during final registration to attempt to re-register for the class. Final registration is January 4, 2012. There are no guarantees that you will be able to get the same schedule.
Last day for 100% tuition refund is January 4, 2012. Last to drop classes with 75% refund is January 17, 2012.

Financial Aid & Veterans Benefits
|
- It takes 4 - 6 weeks to process Financial Aid and/or Veterans benefits.
|

Books
|
You may request that the books be shipped to you by UPS (Saturday delivery is an extra charge) and you may pay for your books, plus shipping by credit card. Receipts REQUIRED for any returns. |

STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNTS
|
NOTE: ALL students are automatically assigned a Blue Ridge e-mail account (WebMail). In order to access your online course, you must 1. Set up your Moodle account, UPDATE your Profile, then, Activate your WebMail account. To activate your WebMail account, you will need your User ID and password ( your student ID number).

Orientations
|
If you live near to Hendersonville or Brevard, it would greatly benefit you to attend a "Face to Face" Orientation which covers many of the specific questions concerning Moodle. The dates are listed here. You may sign up online to attend a session at either location. Click here to download the

Open Computer Lab

How to Begin
|
- WAIT until the classes are scheduled to start before you attempt to Log into your course.
- Instructors are required to have their courses available by the second day of the drop/add period.
- Do not call until AFTER that date with problems concerning logging in to your course(s).

E-mail your instructor(s) to let them know that you have activated your BRCC WebMail Account and let them know your accounts are set up and that you are looking forward to the course(s).
- If you have never taken an online course in Moodle, we strongly urge you to download and read the
Student Guide to Moodle
which will guide you through all aspects of using the technology for your online course.
