Distance Learning (DL) is available in different formats for those who cannot come to campus or prefer to learn on a flexible schedule. People who succeed are highly motivated, self-starters, and goal oriented.

Skills required are not only technical, but include good time management, active reading abilities, paying attention to details and more. While scheduling issues are important, an evaluation of all facets of Distance Learning will help ensure your success. Please take a few moments to take the "Are you ready for Distance Learning?" assessment and contact us if you have any questions or reservations.

Online Academic Credit courses towards a Degree or Transfer

Be sure to check out the online Course Requirements Outlines (CRO's) BEFORE you sign up for a curriculum online course.

"I am the mother of a 20 month old little girl, and because I am a stay at home mom online classes are a necessity. I would not be able to maintain a full time status if I were not given the opportunity to take online courses. The distance learning programs would not be so successful if it were not for Blue Ridge's excellent instructors."
- TP

Many courses are available online that apply towards a curriculum degree, diploma, or for college transfer.  Some include: American Sign Language, History, Psychology, British Literature, Study Skills, Intro to Computers, Business Ethics, Intro to Early Childhood, Horticulture Pest Management, World Civilizations I, and more . . .

Online Continuing Education courses towards Professional Growth

"Your Distance Learning Program has been a lifesaver to me. I am a police officer from Elizabethtown, North Carolina. I am currently serving ... in Afghanistan. I was not able to arrange leave to get home . . . and take the mandated in-service training in person and your on-line courses offered my only option.

Your program is making it possible for me and others to take time away form our regular police duties and do our part to fight terrorism in places like Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo."
- R.G., Jalalabad Regional Commander

Additional examples of online Continuing Education courses are: Law Enforcement - Mandated (Hazmat, Career Survival Training and Standards, Gang Identification, Legal Updates, etc.), Quick Books, Allied Health Medical Online (Billing, Coding, Terminology, Transcription), Network Forensics (Targeted Violence, Criminalistics, etc.) and more . . .

If you are new to the online concept, please continue on by choosing the "New To Distance Learning Link".
