From deep in the Appalachians where the Great Smoky Mountains meet the Blue Ridge comes the Balsam Range band, creatively blending Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel and Jazz into a new American acoustic music experience. Founded in 2007, Balsam Range consists of five friends with unique experiences and backgrounds that blend together effortlessly to form their distinctive sound.
Balsam Range boasts 7 National #1 Songs, 2011 IBMA Song of the Year Winner, 2011 IBMA Album of the Year nominee, 2011 and 2010 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year nominee, and many other accolades. Band members include: Grammy award-winning Marc Pruett; Grammy nominee, Darren Nicholson; Southern Gospel Hall of Famer, Tim Surrett; Caleb Smith, awarded Male Vocalist of the Year for the PowerGrass Music Awards; and, Buddy Melton, who has performed regularly with David Holt and Doc Watson.
This concert event will be held in the 400-seat Thomas Auditorium on the Henderson County Campus of Blue Ridge Community College and will recognize the 50th Anniversary of the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).
