Man Tracking -- Basic Course (15 hours)

This specialized class will cover man tracking techniques useful in search operations and management. A night session will be held on Saturday night. Required equipment for class: cap or hat, boots, clothing suitable for woodland operations, flashlight, canteen, small pocket mirror and minimum 48-inch walking stick for the Saturday night session. This class will meet Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., plus a three-hour night session, and Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Mayday NFA (18 hours)

This course is design to educate the firefighter in identifying situations where a firefighter is put in harm’s way requiring immediate emergency action including the activation of a Mayday alert. Situations discussed will include a lost firefighter, a firefighter trapped or pinned by falling debris, a firefighter falling through a floor and a firefighter entangled by obstructions such as wire. This is a labor intensive course with the focus on hands-on application Students must be at least 18 years old. Students shall provide firefighter PPE to include Turn-Out gear, an SCBA and one spare bottle . This class will meet Friday from 6:00-10:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Orienteering - Learn the Basics (12 hours)

This course will help you answer the question; “What do I do now? My GPS is dead”! You will learn basic map reading, basic compass navigation, pacing and UTM’s. The course goal is to make you successful without electronic devices. This class will be hands-on learning. This is orienteering the old fashion way, a common sense process of getting where you need to be without a GPS. By learning the background and the basics of map and compass, you will gain a better understanding when using your GPS. (That is if it is working, if you have spare batteries, and if you can get a signal.)

This class will meet Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Overhaul I & II (6 hours)

This course will cover all objectives related to overhaul for Firefighter I and II. This class will meet Sunday from 8:00am-3:00pm.

Pediatric Emergencies for Pre-hospital Providers (PEPP) (16 hours)

Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals (PEPP) represents a complete source of pre-hospital medical information for the emergent care of infants and children. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed specifically to teach pre-hospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children. This course will meet Saturday 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Personal Protective Equipment (15 hours)

This course will allow a student to complete the objectives related to personal protective equipment for Firefighter Levels I and II. Students shall provide firefighter PPE to include Turn-Out gear, an SCBA and one spare bottle. This class will meet Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
