For the sixth year in a row,
the faculty and staff of Blue Ridge Community College
exceeded their donations given in the previous year's Faculty and Staff Campaign!
In 2011-2012, $29,100.24 was raised by our very generous employees. By making a gift to Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation, you will be taking an extra step that further helps us realize the College’s vision of providing programs of excellence in academics and training that foster economic vitality in our community.
Edward Maglott and Jana Hosmer, 2011-2012 Faculty and Staff Campaign chairs
Soon after I started at BRCC I recognized how important the Educational Foundation is in helping us achieve the goals of the College. Over the years this has been reinforced for me, especially as our "regular" funding sources have been reduced. For example, Foundation funding for Professional Development has been critical to help us keep our skills up to date as technology continues to move in new directions. For the academic year 2011-2012, budget requests submitted by the College to the Board of Directors, along with other Foundation funds, rendered an approved budget of $1,039,448.42.
I have designated my contributions to a specific scholarship because I like to know that I'm directly helping students. I chose the Wynn Scholarship because I appreciate and want to encourage a more diverse student body.
Edward Maglott
I give to the Foundation because it thrills me to see students succeed! The classroom experience is enhanced because students are free to concentrate on their studies, and faculty have the opportunity to elevate their skill set.

Denise was a multiple scholarship recipient during her years at Blue
Ridge, and was invited to be a key speaker at the 2009
Scholarship Appreciation Luncheon. Linda is a
donor through the Faculty and Staff Campaign and one of Denise's
former instructors.
As Denise shared with the donors and students present at the Luncheon, "I wish you could have seen the look on my mother's face when I graduated; she was so very proud of me. I am the only one in my family who has graduated from college. It was because of the Foundation's donors and the staff here at BRCC that believed in me that I am truly a success story."

What the Foundation Can Do for the College
In fulfilling its mission, the Foundation provides financial assistance to students through scholarships, a work-study program, and emergency loans and grants; purchases state-of-the-art equipment for use in classrooms; sponsors faculty development through special projects; enables the College to achieve its institutional effectiveness goals; provides start-up costs for new programs; and solicits monies for other projects on campus. Private support through the Foundation enables Blue Ridge Community College to keep pace with the educational changes occurring in its service area and in the lives of its students, faculty and staff, and the citizens it serves.
Even though the Foundation is a separate, legal entity, it serves as a vessel for broadening support for the College through the involvement of its stakeholders who share in the College's mission and vision.
