(Flat Rock, NC- June 27, 2016) Blue Ridge Community College announces the addition of Kevin Spradlin as the Transylvania County NCWorks Career Coach. The purpose of the new Career Coach position is to assist high school students with determining career goals and identifying Blue Ridge Community College programs that would enable students to achieve those goals.

This is a year-round position with Kevin working primarily on all three of the Transylvania County High School campuses during the school year, and at the BRCC Transylvania County Campus during the summer. Kevin will also spend time on the elementary and middle school campuses working with students through career exploration activities.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our students to have a face in the schools that they directly identify with Blue Ridge Community College,” says Kevin. “I’ll be available  to work with students and their parents in a variety of roles ranging from assisting with College and Career Promise courses, exploring financial aid options, to narrowing down what programs at BRCC best fit their needs and goals. In short, I want to help students in Transylvania County Schools find a “vision” for their future, and then assist them along that journey to fulfill those dreams.”

Other aspects of the position will be assisting students in the transition from high school to postsecondary education at the community college and continually monitoring local and regional businesses for what qualifications that they are looking for in future employees and helping students obtain those credentials.

Kevin holds a master’s degree and more than 20 years of experience in education. He can be reached at (828) 243-3960 or k_spradlin@blueridge.edu.
