Blue Ridge Community College Offers Course on Attracting, Retaining and Developing Right-Fit Employees

Blue Ridge Community College Welcomes Disney Institute

In response to an extremely low regional unemployment rate of 3.9 percent and an expressed need from area companies to find and retain right-fit employees, Blue Ridge Community College's Professional Development Institute announced today that Disney Institute will return to campus to present “Disney’s Approach to Employee Engagement.” The day-long training event will take place in the Blue Ridge Conference Hall on Wednesdsay, May 2, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The seminar will share Disney’s secrets to attracting, retaining and developing employees dedicated to a company’s vision. Tickets are $395 per person and include all course materials, lunch, and parking. Additionally, companies can register for a table of six and receive the sixth ticket free. Register online at blueridge.edu/Disney or call (828) 694-1779 for more information.

Blue Ridge Community College has hosted two other Disney Institute sessions previously, each with a different focus. “It is important that the Professional Development Institute responds to area employers’ needs,” said Julie Thompson, vice president, Economic and Workforce Development/Continuing Education for Blue Ridge Community College. “We hear over and over from our industry and business professionals that they are struggling to attract and keep their top-level employees.” Thompson notes that this year’s Disney Institute is hyper-focused on those topics.

Throughout this one-day course, participants will discover how to select people who are a right fit for their company culture, adapt training strategies that ensure employees are confident in their roles, and develop high-quality communication that strengthens their organization’s culture and engages employees.

Blue Ridge Community College notes that this course is beneficial to professionals, specifically those with direct reports, or those interested in finding new ways to attract, hire and retain a confident, highly productive workforce. “By offering Disney Institute in Western North Carolina for $395 per person, including lunch and parking, Blue Ridge Community College’s Professional Development Institute is able to create a per person savings of $1,075 plus travel and lodging costs,” adds Thompson. Previous sessions have sold out. The maximum capacity is 275 and Thompson encourages interested groups to register early at blueridge.edu/Disney or by calling (828) 694-1779.
