College Planning Workshops

High School Students

High school students who are eager to get a jump start on their college education can take advantage of tuition-free courses through several different programs.  Each program offers its own unique benefits to high school students.

Dual Enrollment Student

Dual/Concurrent Enrollment

Dual/Concurrent Enrollment offers an opportunity for students to get a jump start on a college degree by allowing students to take tuition-free courses. Most of these courses earn the high school student college credit as well as high school ELECTIVE honors credit.  These courses are offered on high school campuses, as well as the Blue Ridge Community College campus.  Textbooks, minimal fees, and supplies are the responsibility of the student.

Huskins Programs

Huskins Programs offer an opportunity for students to earn college credit and high credit in specific technology programs. Students attend courses on Blue Ridge Community College campus or at Balfour Educational Center during approximately half of their school day.  Textbooks, minimal fees, and supplies are the responsibility of the student.

Early College Student

Early College

Henderson County Early College (HCEC) is an innovative public high school partnership between the Henderson County School District and Blue Ridge Community College's (BRCC) Flat Rock campus with the support of the NC New Schools Project. HCEC will open in the fall of 2009. HCEC students attend high school on the BRCC campus while taking college classes at BRCC. The goal of HCEC is for its students to graduate with a high school diploma and up to two years of college transferable credit or an associate degree in five years; all tuition free.

RAVE Student

Regional Articulation in Vocational Education (R.A.V.E) Credit

Blue Ridge Community College will grant advanced placement credit to high school graduates for successful completion of certain high school courses taken at the junior and senior level. This credit expires two years after the student graduates from high school.
