Pre-Enrollment Placement Testing
Blue Ridge Community College uses ACCUPLACER from College Board for our pre-enrollment placement test. The Henderson County Campus and the Transylvania County Campus follows different testing schedules. At the Henderson County Campus placement testing is generally held on Monday evenings and Friday mornings. At the Transylvania County Campus testing is generally held on Monday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Additional testing sessions are added before and during registration. To schedule your placement test at the Henderson County Campus you can come to Student Services in the Sink Building or call (828) 694-1800. At the Transylvania County Campus, please call (828) 883-2520 or (828) 694-1900 to schedule your test.

Testing Process
- An Application for Admission must be submitted BEFORE scheduling your placement testing.
- The test schedule for the current semester is available from Student Services. ACCUPLACER is an adaptive test taken on a computer. To schedule your placement test at the Henderson County Campus call (828) 694-1800. At the Transylvania County Campus, call (828) 883-2520 or (828) 694-1900 to schedule your test.
- Bring a picture ID and know your social security number. Everything else needed for testing is provided. No calculators, dictionaries, or other aids are allowed.
- There is no charge for the placement test.
- The test is given in the Star Center at the Henderson County Campus and in the Computer Lab at the Henderson County Center. Come to the test session well rested and prepared to do your best, arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Test sessions last up to approx. two and a half hours depending on how many on the number of test sections are required for you based on your program of study and exemptions you may have.
- After you complete the test you will go to Student Services to get your Placement Test Summary Form which will explain scores, cut-offs, and course placement and have your scores explained to you by a counselor.
- Your faculty adviser will use your placement test scores during registration to help you schedule appropriate classes. It would be helpful to bring your Placement Test Summary Form to registration.
