SAMTEC at Blue Ridge Community College

High pressure die casting training at Blue Ridge Community College’s new SAMTEC lab can be tailored to meet your needs.

SAMTEC machine

SAMTEC uses the expertise of instructors from several of Blue Ridge Community College’s premier curriculum programs—mechatronics, computer integrated machining, welding, and engineering technology.

We offer training through short-term continuing education classes and tailored training for manufacturers, with plans to develop a full associate degree program in molding technology.

SAMTEC provides quality workforce training in high pressure die casting of aluminum parts as well as training in the production of plastic molding processes. Class topics range from safety to continuous improvement to technical. Our technical training includes high pressure die casting operations, quality control and maintenance, and any topic related to mechatronics, computer integrated machining or welding.

Our high pressure die casting cell is comprised of the following four integrated pieces of equipment:

  • Evolution 42 Remanufactured DCM (Bühler SCD42)
  • STOTEK Crucible Dosing Furnace - AMDG 750, holds 750kg of aluminum.
  • ABB IRB 4600 Industrial Robot
  • Regloplas Model 300LD/20KW/FM65/1K/RT100 Dual Zone Temperature Control Unit and Regloplas Model P200M/8/SM73H/SK/RT100 Single Zone Temperature Control Unit
