Application for Graduation
: Candidates for graduation should apply to the Registrar's Office for the degree, diploma, or certificate during registration for the last semester of enrollment. The application should be accompanied by the required graduation fee and be paid to the Cashier in the Patton Building.
Graduation Rehearsal:
Thursday, May 13
- Please plan to arrive no later than 2:45 pm to the Technology Education and Development Center (TEDC) Room 102 for the start of graduation rehearsal activities. It is very important that all graduates attend rehearsal.
Graduation Day Information:
- Graduates must arrive at Blue Ridge Community College no later than 5:15 p.m. on May 14 to TEDC Room 213. Bring cap and gown.
- The diploma cover you receive at graduation will not include the diploma. Curriculum diplomas will be mailed to you after graduation day.
- What to wear: Graduation is a formal ceremony; therefore, we request that graduates dress neatly and appropriately. Graduates without shoes or wearing sneakers as well as jeans will not be allowed in the processional (bring bobby pins for cap).
- All candidates for graduation from degree, diploma, and certificate programs are required to participate in graduation exercises unless excused by the Vice President for Student Services.
Personal Belongings: There is no secure place to store personal belongings (i.e., purses, coats) during the Commencement ceremony.
Parking for Parents/Guests: Parking for parents and guests will be available near the Technology Education and Development Center via East Campus Drive off of College Drive. Security personnel and College staff will be available to provide direction.
Seating: The only reserved seating for commencement is for graduates and faculty. All other seating is on a general admission basis for relatives and friends. Therefore, no ticket for admission is necessary and there is no limit on the number of guests.
College Fees: Graduates must pay all fines and fees, return all library books, and meet any other college obligations prior to graduation. If in doubt, please check with the Registrar’s office, the Library, and the Cashier to see if there are any outstanding obligations that need your attention.
Graduation Regalia: Caps, gowns, and tassels will be available to purchase from the BRCC Bookstore located in the William D. Killian Building. The BRCC Bookstore will also carry graduation announcements. Honor society members (PTK and NTHS) are welcomed to wear honor society regalia of their choice but may wear only one tassel during graduation. Please make your purchases using the honor society website(s): www.ptk.org or www.nths.org. Please place order in time enough to allow for arrival well before May 14.
