Procedure 5.11.1 - Energy Conservation

  1.  The College is committed to a college-wide energy conservation program. The College has
    established the following guidelines to insure that it is in compliance with federal, state, and
    local energy conservation regulations and guidelines.

  2.  Room temperatures - during operating hours, thermostats will be set and maintained to provide
    for cooling energy to lower room temperatures to a minimum of 75 degrees. When heating is
    used thermostats shall be set and maintained to raise the room temperature to 68 degrees.

  3. Portable heaters - the use of portable heaters is prohibited except when room temperatures are
    below 65 degrees.

  4. Ventilating equipment - the use of ventilating fans is authorized and encouraged in certain
    areas where such ventilation is necessary.

  5. Water heaters - temperature will be set at an efficient operating temperature.

  6. Outside air - the use of outside air during periods of comfortable weather is encouraged and is
    controlled through the heating and cooling system.

  7. Lighting - Reduce lighting loads by turning off lights in all rooms not in use or when no classes
    are in session.

  8. It is the responsibility of the Vice President for Finance and Operations to see that these
    procedures are followed.
