Work Study Guidelines

Work-Study Program

The work-study program provides job opportunities for students with financial need. The money earned through a work-study position can be used to help pay educational expenses. Work-study awards are paid monthly by check based upon hours worked the previous month. Students are allowed to work up to 10 hours per week. The current pay rate is $8.50 per hour. Job duties vary by position.

Jobs may be located at the Henderson County Campus or the Transylvania County campus. Off-campus jobs are also available. Currently, BRCC works with several elementary schools to assist children with reading skill development.

Students that want to apply for a work-study position must complete a FAFSA.

Once a student receives an award notification, the student will need to request to be placed on the BRCC Federal Work-Study waiting list. A supervisor will contact the student to schedule an interview if a position is available that the student meets the qualifications for. NOTE: Placement into a position is contingent upon job availability, the student's qualifications, and program funding.
