Lorri Allison hired as new HR Director at Blue Ridge Community College

Blue Ridge Community College is pleased to welcome Lorri Allison as its new Human Resources Director.

Lorri is a human resources professional with more than 25 years of experience successfully administering, organizing and planning in diverse, public environments.

She holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Western Carolina University and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Communication Arts from Appalachian State University.

“I’m very happy to join the Blue Ridge family, and am looking forward to doing great things here,” she said. “This role was the right fit at the right time.”

Lorri has demonstrated skills in strategic planning, supervision, recruitment and selection, employee relations, policy administration, work/life program management, classification and compensation, performance management, organizational design, communication, training and consultation.

Her most recent role was serving as Director of Human Resources/Title IX Coordinator at Alamance Community College, a role she’s held since April 2011. While there, she served on the President’s cabinet; supervised recruitment and staffing of more than 225 full-time staff and faculty positions and 400-600 part-time positions; served as the College’s coordinator and investigator into all sexual misconduct complaints; and consulted with the College’s Professional Development Committee to determine what courses to offer to staff and faculty.

She currently serves as an adjunct instructor for a SHRM Certification Preparation Class at Guilford Technical Community College as well as Alamance Community College; she’s served in these positions since 2019 and 2017 respectively.

From November 2009 to April 2011, Lorri served as Director of Human Resources for the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State.

She served as Assistant Director of Employment and Staffing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from April – October 2009. Prior to this role, she served at UNC Chapel Hill as Director of Employee Services from May 2004 – March 2009.

Lorri also worked at Western Carolina University as a Human Resources Analyst from 1995-2004, and a Personnel Technician from 1993-1995 at the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer in Raleigh.

In addition to her work, Lorri’s an avid volunteer, having served with Junior Achievement, the American Red Cross and Humane Society of Alamance County. She’s also volunteered as a literacy tutor for Haywood County’s Literacy Council and as a mediator and trainer for Mountain Mediation Services.
