Blue Ridge Community College offers Real Estate courses regularly throughout the year. Real Estate Pre-Licensing will be offered this summer on the Transylvania campus starting May 25, Mondays and Tuesdays, 6 – 10 p.m., and ending August 10.
The Real Estate Pre-Licensing course prepares students to sit for the North Carolina and National Real Estate exams. Blue Ridge Real Estate courses are taught through the Continuing Education Department and include Pre-Licensing, Post-Licensing and Continuing Education courses.
Pre-Licensing course graduate, Brooke Taylor, shares her experience. “This last year was very difficult for me. I lost my job unexpectedly and struggled deeply with feeling discouraged, overwhelmed and lost. Something in me has always wanted to be a real estate broker and I thought, what better time than now?”
Taylor, who just completed the course in March, explains, “So, I jumped into the Real Estate Pre-Licensing Course and am so glad. Pursuing this dream with the help and support of Blue Ridge Community College and its faculty and staff has been so life-giving and growth-filled … such a positive and fulfilling experience. I’m excited about my career again, in a way I haven’t been in a long time.”
The course is taught by Instructor Robert Whitaker, a Licensed Real Estate Agent who is also a Certified Real Estate Instructor.
Taylor recalls, “My class was taught virtually but the instructor did it seamlessly, fostering an incredibly professional, warm, welcoming, informative environment for students.”
Due to the global pandemic, the class was delivered via Zoom, however this summer all continuing education classes will return to face-to-face instruction.
Participation in the real estate course led to a positive outcome for Taylor. “I have joined one of the top firms in the area, and can’t wait to start this next chapter of my life. I couldn’t have done it without Blue Ridge; I’m forever grateful,” she added.
