Blue Ridge Community College will host an Open House for the general public on June 7, 2022 to showcase the programs that are offered on its Transylvania County Campus.

Information on college transfer, computer-integrated machining, automotive technologies, nursing, health sciences, and business are among the programs that will be showcased. This is an excellent opportunity to explore all the certificates and degrees covered by the College’s Brighter Future scholarship.

The Brighter Future scholarship is being offered to Transylvania County residents again this year thanks to an anonymous $2 million donation to the College’s Educational Foundation.

This generous donation and scholarship will help Blue Ridge continue its mission of empowering individuals with knowledge and skills to enrich our communities and build a competitive workforce.

The Brighter Future scholarship is available to all full-time and part-time students at Blue Ridge, and offers free tuition for the Summer 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023 semesters.

Eligibility for the scholarship is simple. Students must: be enrolled at Blue Ridge by the applicable published deadlines, be a North Carolina resident (for tuition purposes), and complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). A representative from the financial aid department is available on the Transylvania campus weekly on Wednesday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. to help complete the FAFSA form if assistance is needed.

Students who meet the required criteria will have all course tuition, campus fees, and book costs in the campus bookstore covered by the scholarship. College transfer, applied science, and most continuing education workforce training courses qualify for this program. Students with financial need (determined by the completion of the FAFSA) may even be eligible for additional aid to help pay for other expenses, such as child care, supplies, and transportation.

Fall courses begin August 18, 2022. To take advantage of the Brighter Future scholarship, students will need to have submitted their application to the College and be registered for their classes by August 11.
