Each holiday season, Western North Carolina families gather for the charming downtown parades of Brevard and Hendersonville. On Dec. 3, students, faculty and staff of Blue Ridge Community College took to the streets to walk in both the 51st Annual Downtown Brevard Christmas Parade in Transylvania County and the Hendersonville Christmas Parade in Henderson County.

Blue Ridge Community College students and employees prepare for the Hendersonville Christmas Parade on Dec. 3, 2022.
“This year’s parade was a wonderful opportunity for our amazing community to come together and celebrate,” said Glenda McCarson, Associate Vice President of Blue Ridge’s Transylvania County Campus. “We were proud to sponsor this year’s event as we served alongside the other volunteers and our Chamber of Commerce.”
In Brevard, the team decorated a Blue Ridge pick-up truck with balloons and a sign that read “Peace on Earth” – this year’s parade theme. In Henderson County, the group was followed by a police cruiser and officers of the Blue Ridge Community College Police Department. Children attending the parade were thrilled to see Blue Ridge students and employees passing out treats as they celebrated the season with festive hats and cheers.
