Accelerated 8-week Short Courses Start Oct. 18 at Blue Ridge Community College

Marketing & Communications Dept.

To provide new and current students maximum flexibility this fall, Blue Ridge Community College will offer more than 70 8-week Short Courses starting October 18. Through Short Courses, students earn full college credit in half the time of a traditional semester. Enrollment is open through October 17, and Short Courses are offered online and on location at the Henderson or Transylvania County campuses.

“Our accelerated courses ultimately save students time,” said Kirsten Bunch, Blue Ridge’s vice president for student services. “And if a student plans to take advantage of both 8-week sessions with a full course load, they could earn two semesters of credit in one. It’s a great way to fast track your education.”

Blue Ridge typically offers two sessions of Short Courses during each 16-week fall and spring semester. One 8-week session begins near the semester start, and the second 8-week session begins at the semester midpoint. Within the summer semester, a single 8-week Short Course session is offered.

“Short Courses provide flexibility, efficiency and economy,” explained Benjamin Rickert, Blue Ridge’s marketing and communications director. “Whether students are meeting requirements for a program at Blue Ridge or another institution, or expanding their knowledge of their profession, Short Courses give students even more options for meeting their goals.”

The next session includes classes of many topics, such as business, public safety, education, marketing, sign language, information technology, entrepreneurship, and much more.
