HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The Blue Ridge Community College horticulture program will host a public plant sale on Saturday, April 20 and 27, in the Bullington Greenhouse of the College’s Henderson County Campus from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The popular annual event attracts plant appreciators from across Western North Carolina to enjoy and purchase plants grown by the College’s students. All proceeds from the event will benefit Blue Ridge’s horticulture program.

“Students are always excited to share what they have grown with the community,” said Rachel Meriwether, horticulture department chair. “This is an excellent opportunity for them to take pride in their work while also supporting the program and gaining valuable hands-on experience for future careers in the field of agribusiness.”

This year’s sale will feature a range of native and ornamental plants including herbs, vegetable starts, succulents, hanging baskets, woody plants and perennials. Payment is accepted by cash or check only.

The horticulture program at Blue Ridge Community College was established in 1980 to offer education and training to students interested in pursuing careers in agricultural and related fields. The program offers related certificate, diploma, and degree options.

In early March, the College officially began construction of a new state-of-the-art automated greenhouse projected for completion in the summer of 2025.
