This summer, a favorite local summer music series returns to Blue Ridge Community College through four public ‘Music by the Lake’ performances. The popular outdoor musical concert series by Blue Ridge’s on-campus lake is offered free to the community. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and picnics to the bluegrass, folk, blues, and cover music events from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday evenings on June 22, July 27, August 10 and August 17.

“Blue Ridge Community College is excited to welcome the community back to our campus in Flat Rock for this summer’s free concert series,” said Benjamin Rickert, Blue Ridge’s marketing and communications director. “Events like Music by the Lake create a fun, relaxed atmosphere where families, friends, and neighbors can come together and enjoy the incredible musical talent found right here in our region.”

This year’s featured musical artists appear in the following order: Asheville Junction (June 22); Lynn Goldsmith and The Jeter Mountain Band (July 27); The Julie McConnell Quartet (August 10); and Tuxedo Junction (Aug. 17).

Performances will take place on the east side of the College’s Henderson County Campus lake, behind the Technology, Education, and Development Center (TEDC), located at 49 East Campus Drive in Flat Rock. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place inside the TEDC.
