These include workforce training, paid apprenticeships, dual-enrollment options for high school students, and transfer degrees for students bound for four-year institutions.
“At Blue Ridge Community College, we’re committed to helping every student take the next step toward their goals with confidence and support,” said Kirsten Bunch, Blue Ridge’s vice president for student services. “Now is the ideal time to enroll for the upcoming spring semester. Whether you’re beginning college for the first time, returning to finish your degree, or seeking career advancement, our team is here to help you find the right path and make the process simple, from program selection to financial aid.”
New Four-Week Short Courses
This December, Blue Ridge is offering year-end four-week Short Courses for the first time. These accelerated courses begin on Dec. 1 and end Dec. 31, allowing students to earn college credit in less time than a full semester. Students must enroll by Nov. 26. These offerings include core classes required for many students, like College Transfer Success (ACA-122) or Introduction to Early Childhood Education (EDU-119), which provides foundational knowledge for those seeking employment in childcare or preschool settings. Upcoming Short Courses are listed at www.blueridge.edu/short-courses.

Financial Aid
The Build Your Future Grant will return for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters, once again giving individuals the opportunity to rebuild or advance their careers following the impact of Hurricane Helene. The state-funded tuition grant covers the cost of education and career training opportunities for eligible students. With these funds, participants can pursue short-term Workforce Training and Continuing Education courses or work toward a diploma or associate degree at reduced cost. The grant aims to help residents gain new skills, strengthen their employability, and build a stronger future for themselves and their communities. Information and an application are online at www.blueridge.edu/build.
The Next NC Scholarship is another valuable opportunity for students and families. This program helps North Carolina households earning $80,000 or less by covering up to full tuition and fees at community colleges. Eligible Blue Ridge Community College students can receive up to $3,000 per year to help pay for books, food, housing, and other expenses—funds that never have to be repaid.
To apply, current and incoming Blue Ridge students only need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and enroll to be automatically considered. This scholarship is available to students enrolled in a traditional degree, diploma, or certificate program. More information on this scholarship is online at www.blueridge.edu/nextnc.
