Blue Ridge Community College and the Great Smoky Mountain Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America invite the community to shift the weekend into high gear and hang out with the coolest rides in town at the Auto and Truck Show on Saturday, Sept. 19.
From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the Blue Ridge campus, 45 Oak Park Drive in Brevard, the parking lots will fill with vehicles of all makes and models. Antiques, performance, motorcycles, trucks, and custom designs will be on display. Twenty prizes will be awarded across all categories, along with door prizes.
The Auto and Truck show features the high-impact preparation provided by instructors of the College’s Automotive Technology department. Students enrolled in Automotive Technology earn both work force credentials and college credits. Tours of the Automotive lab will take place during the show.
“Come on out and support the students,” said Eric Stephens, Automotive Technology instructor. “It will be a great day, rain or shine. Remember to tour the automotive facility and look at the new ‘33 Hot Rod roadster made by Factory Five Racing.”
This fall, students are taking classes in subjects such as Brake Systems, Engine Performance, Chassis Maintenance, Powertrain Maintenance, and Advanced Transportation Electronics.
The Auto and Truck show is a great time for conversation and sharing knowledge between generations of car enthusiasts. Students, who will both work and display vehicles at the show, look forward to interacting with owners of show vehicles and the community who come out to enjoy the fun.
Spectator parking is free. Food trucks will be on site.
There will be a $20 show vehicle registration fee, with check-in from 9 to 11 a.m. Proceeds from the event will help fund scholarships for Blue Ridge automotive students.
