In-kind gifts
When an individual, business, or organization indicates an interest in donating a gift-in-kind to the College, the Foundation should be notified. If necessary, the Foundation will consult with College faculty and staff to determine if there is a need for the proposed gift.
Neither the College nor the Foundation shall appraise a gift. Values placed on contributions and appraisals offered in support of such values for tax purposes shall be the responsibility of the donor. In order to be deductible, the in-kind donation must be made to Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation with full control and discretion over the disposition or use of the donation.
As Blue Ridge Community College strives to meet the higher education needs of our community, the demands to make sure our students are given the best education possible with real life teaching tools is growing, and so is our need for donations and support to acquire such items.
We are very grateful to our generous donors who, over the years, have donated automobiles, books, audio-visual equipment, and other useful educational tools to Blue Ridge Community College.
Matching gifts
Double or triple the value of your gift! Did you know that many corporations match financial contributions when their employees, retirees, and board members give to their favorite nonprofit organizations? By participating in these matching gift programs, donors to Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation can double, and even triple, their contributions.
Most companies with a matching gift program will have guidelines and forms or logins to be followed. Typically, there is a human relations or charitable giving department that works with employees in preparing the proper documentation. Donors often can include retired employees, spouses, or widowed employees as well as currently employed personnel.
To confirm that your company will match your gift, please contact your company’s Human Resources department or charitable giving department. Feel free to contact the Foundation office if we can be of assistance.

Employee giving
By making a gift to Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation, you will be taking an extra step that further helps us realize the College’s vision of providing programs of excellence in academics and training that foster economic vitality in our community.
Let’s challenge ourselves to stand together, as a College family, to help change the lives of our students by supporting our Foundation. Even a small monthly donation of $5 can lift students up to achieve their dreams of a better life through education.
Remember that this tax-deductible donation can be given monthly through payroll deduction, and allows our Foundation to support scholarships, work-study programs, purchase new equipment for our classrooms, and fund faculty professional development.
Let’s show our community partners that WE will take the first step, and that their contribution, together with ours, can change lives!

Restricted
A gift may be restricted for a program of study (curriculum or continuing education), library and classroom resources, faculty development, lecture series, opportunities in the arts, innovative grant possibilities, and more.
Scholarships
Scholarship funds assist individuals pursuing educational goals and recognize individual excellence. Donors may specify the criteria for scholarship awards.
Endowments
Choosing to endow your gift with Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation ensures ongoing annual support in perpetuity. This is made possible through income generated annually from your investment of $25,000 or greater. The minimum donation of $25,000 to establish an endowed fund may be paid in one lump sum or over a period of three years.
Tributes and memorials
Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation accepts donations made to honor an event or an individual. A gift may honor a wedding anniversary, birthday, religious celebration, or other occasion. This is a loving tribute to the honoree. A memorial gift is an enduring remembrance of love for the family of the deceased.
The Foundation sends a thank you card to the donor and a card to the honoree or family member regarding the gift. The amount contributed is kept confidential. You may mail your check to the Foundation office with details, or call us for more information.
