Meet Jessica Calvillo: SGA VP and First Generation Student

Jessica Calvillo, a sophomore at Blue Ridge Community College, is working toward her major in Business Administration, all the while serving the student body as the Student Government Association’s Vice President.

A child of Mexican immigrants who came to the U.S. from Michoacán, the 20-year-old is a first generation student, and is entering her third year at Blue Ridge.

On Aug. 26-27, the Theatre Department at Blue Ridge Community College will hold auditions for its fall production of “Marian, or the True Story of Robin Hood,” a patriarchy-smashing, hilarious new take on the classic tale. Robin Hood is (and has always been) Maid Marian in disguise, and leads a motley group of Merry Men (few of whom are actually men) against the greedy Prince John.
