Discover Diversity Week 2018


Blue Ridge Community College Discover Diversity Week is a series of events to promote an awareness of diversity and a greater understanding of global issues.


All events are open to the public.

Discover Diversity Week is sponsored by the Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) Inclusive Education Committee and BRCC Educational Foundation. Discover Diversity Week is also supported by a planning grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council.

Monday, March 12

Heritage food tasting skillet serving utensils and food

Discover Diversity Day at TCC - Heritage Food Tasting
Transylvania County Campus

11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
TRCS Room 140

Celebrate regional and international food on the Transylvania County Campus. Student, faculty, staff, and local restaurants will be donating samples of their most creative and inspired dishes.

Free admission.


Tuesday, March 13

International foods and spices

International Food Tasting
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Henderson County Campus
Killian Student Center

Join us for a globetrotting tour of tasty dishes from all over our great, big world. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to bring their favorite dish. Contact Connie Vera for more information: or (828) 694-1679

Once again,  the Inclusive Education Committee presents the 4x4 International Film Fest, four short films specially chosen to entertain and educate about issues important to our world today. Come and be part of the fun, and the discussion.

Madeline Delp is an alumna of Blue Ridge Community College and North Henderson High School.  After finishing her Associate's Degree at BRCC, she transferred to UNC-Asheville where she majored in Business and Foreign Language. Ms. Delp has used her entrepreneurial skills to found the non-profit organization, Live Boundless, and uses her knowledge of multiple languages to reach greater audiences in the US and abroad. After working on several film projects like the televised special “To Walk Again,” Ms. Delp is taking her film work to the next level during her year as Ms. Wheelchair USA. The Live Boundless series will be filmed and promoted to educate wheelchair users on how they can adapt to each area of everyday life.
