The Elementary Education Residency Licensure Certificate is for those wanting to pursue a career in teaching in an elementary school in North Carolina. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and employed in a local school district may use residency licensing as one route to a teaching career. Residency licensing allows qualified individuals to begin teaching while completing North Carolina licensure requirements.
Request Information about Education ProgramsThe certificate curriculum includes six classes and provides a course of study leading to the development of the general competencies needed to become certified to teach by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Additional requirements, such as pre-service training, passing the state required assessments, and the criteria included in the North Carolina Teacher Evaluation System, are required for licensure.
