Course Description

Medical Assistant Entry Level with Clinical Course:

This course is designed to teach the basics of the three aspects of Medical Assisting: Clinical, Administrative and Laboratory. Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, insurance coding and billing, medical transcription, assisting with examinations/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures and ethical and legal issues. You will also complete 40 hours of clinical rotations with this course. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Exam. Blue Ridge Community College is an approved NHA test site.​

Registration Information and Student Handbook – Medical Assistant Entry Level with Clinical

Enrollment requirements:

1. The student must be 18 years old.

2.  Proof of required immunizations (see list below) are due within a 14-day period after registration occurs or you will be dropped from the course.

3. IDs required on the first day of class (names must match on both):

a. A Signed Social Security Card (paper card, non-laminated), or letter from Social Security Office stating that card has been requested.

b. Current Driver’s License or government-issued picture ID.

c. High school diploma or GED.

4. You will register for the course when you view the course schedule below. 

5. A statement will be signed the first day of class to confirm that the student received and reviewed the Student Handbook.

Immunization Requirements:

Please see required list below. In order to register for course, students must purchase a Viewpoint Health Portal and upload required immunizations. Once immunizations are fully approved, you may reach out to schedule an appointment for registration.
