CCP Career and Technical Education Pathways

Blue Ridge Community College offers a number of Career and Technical Education Pathways leading to a certificate or a diploma aligned with high school career clusters.

Career and Technical Education Pathway Options

Most CTE pathways are certificates and do not have course prerequisites. Students applying for a diploma requiring English and/or math are only able to complete the diploma if he or she has acceptable PSAT, SAT, Pre-ACT, ACT, NC DAP or the Blue Ridge placement test scores in those areas. Students who do not meet state benchmarks from the above tests are able to enroll in developmental courses required for the diploma following high school graduation.

State and Regional Articulation Credit

North Carolina recognizes that some high school Career Technical Education courses match the knowledge and skills of similar courses at community colleges. To minimize repeating such courses, students proficient in their high school course may receive college credit at a NC community college. This credit expires two years after the student graduates from high school.

To receive college credit, the student must have a final grade of B or higher in the course and score at least 93 or higher on the standardized CTE post assessment test. Students must submit the following to receive articulated credit:

1) Application for articulation credit (available through the High School Guidance Office)
2) High school transcript
3) All official standardized CTE post assessments if not included on the transcript
