Continuing to help its students reach their summit, Blue Ridge Community College now offers a Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) exam prep course taught by its very own Human Resources Director, SHRM member and SHRM-SCP, Lorri Allison.
Blue Ridge courses equip Human Resources professionals with the necessary tools to play a strategic role in their Human Resources departments; stay abreast of ever-changing laws, innovative strategies and current labor practices; and successfully manage Human Resources departments based on the four pillars of professional skills, including:
- Human Resources
- Continuous Improvement
This comprehensive review of the SHRM Learning System materials covers the nine SHRM developed Human Resources Competencies.
The Human Resources Expertise competency is then addressed through in-depth coverage of 15 functional areas under the four general headings of People, Organization, Workplace and Strategy.
The course prepares students to take either the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exams.
Course instructor Lorri Allison is a human resources professional with more than 25 years of experience successfully administering, organizing and planning in diverse, public environments.
She holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from Western Carolina University and a Bachelor of Arts in English/Communication Arts from Appalachian State University.
Allison stated, “The SHRM certification is the premier credential for Human Resources professionals worldwide. This course will help participants prepare for the exam in an organized way that will maximize their study time.”
Those attending the program for only professional development can earn up to 36 professional development credits as well.
The course will meet every Thursday starting Feb. 6 until April 2 from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. The cost is $1,050.
