Industrial Maintenance Certificate Program Launches in January 2016 at Blue Ridge Community College

(Press Release issued November 17, 2015) Blue Ridge Community College will launch a new training program for industrial maintenance technicians at both campuses in January. The job training program will prepare students for jobs as a machinery mechanic, facility technician, or similar profession in local manufacturing. Students will learn various areas associated with industrial maintenance such as electrical, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), machining, welding and HVAC.

The program will meet on Fridays beginning in January 2016. The Henderson County Campus program is 16 weeks long and ends in May. The Transylvania County Campus program runs for 11 weeks and ends in April.  The classroom and lab instruction will be combined with online coursework through ToolingU, an industry leader in manufacturing training. Prerequisites for the program will apply. Cost for the training is $577. Financial aid is available for eligible students.

Free information sessions about the new program will be held on November 20, 2015, at 10 a.m. and December 8, 2015, at 6 p.m. at the Transylvania County Campus Straus Building. Interested students are encouraged to attend an information session prior to enrolling.
