The Machining Academy at Blue Ridge Community College is a 128-hour pre-apprenticeship program designed to introduce participants to machining and advanced manufacturing careers. Through applied technical instruction, workplace safety training, and career-focused experiences, participants build the foundational skills and workplace readiness needed for entry-level employment, apprenticeship opportunities, or continued technical education.

Blueprint & Measurement Skills
- Read and interpret basic industrial blueprints and technical drawings
- Understand symbols, dimensions, scales, and specifications
- Use precision measuring tools, including calipers and micrometers
- Apply measurement, tolerance, and quality-control concepts
Safety & Workplace Skills
- Recognize workplace hazards and follow OSHA 10 safety practices
