Students can gain experience and jobs with apprenticeship program in manufacturing
The Made in Henderson County (Manufacturing) Apprenticeship program allows eligible high school graduates and adult learners to earn while you learn in the classroom and on the job. The program is a collaborative effort of Made in Henderson County partnership, Henderson County Public Schools, Transylvania County Public Schools, Homeschool Association, Blue Ridge Community College, the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development and local industries working together to support the workforce of today and tomorrow.
The Made in Henderson County (Manufacturing) Apprenticeship program is a registered North Carolina Apprenticeship with the N.C. Department of Labor.

Program Description:

Length of Program: Two Years. Three Semesters (Fall ’24 – Fall ’25) and 3,000 hours at work.
Eligibility: December 2023, January and June 2024 High School Graduates and Adult Learners.
Tuition: Free. Plus, you’ll get PAID to attend class.
Starting Pay: $16.00. Periodic increases. Pay after completion: $19.00 minimum.
6 College Classes: 13 Credits total. Earn a Certificate in Mechatronics Engineering Technology!
Schedule: Class one day a week. Work four days a week at one of the partner companies.
Stackable: Want to keep learning after your Apprenticeship? These classes can count toward an associate degree at Blue Ridge.
Application and Hiring Process
For adult learners and those graduating in January 2023:
- Draft Day, in February 2024
- Class will begin August 2024.
For those graduating in June 2024:
- Class will begin August 2024.

Made in Henderson County is a coordinated effort established to enhance the connection between manufacturing businesses and the school system while telling the story of manufacturing, the products made here and the people who make them. Since 2012, HCPS and the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development have brought career-building and workforce development training to local middle and high schoolers through Made in Henderson County industry tours that showcase manufacturing opportunities.
