A course of study that prepares students to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to become technicians who design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment, and systems such as industrial/computer controls, manufacturing systems, communication systems, and power electronic systems.

Course work includes mathematics, natural sciences, engineering sciences, and technology.

Our graduates

Graduates should qualify for employment as an electronics engineering technician, field service technician, instrumentation technician, maintenance technician, electronic tester, electronic systems integrator, bench technician, or production control technician.

Mission:

A course of study that prepares students to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills to become technicians who design, build, install, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, equipment, and systems such as industrial/computer controls.

Program Educational Objectives:

  • Graduates will possess leadership qualities, high morals, and professional ethics.
  • Graduates will possess the skills to perform at a technician level and be employable in a field related to their program
  • Graduates will be prepared for increasing levels of responsibility, learning new skills, and adapting to changing technology in the workplace
  • Graduates choosing to continue their education in a four-year engineering technology program will perform satisfactorily in such programs

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the application of mathematics and physics to analyze DC, AC, analog, and digital circuits.
  • Understand the creation and interpretation of electronic schematics, technical drawings, and flow charts.
  • Conduct tests to design, analyze, and troubleshoot electronics circuits using common electronics test equipment.
  • Demonstrate technical problem-solving skills in both individual and team settings.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  • Perform all work safely per established industry standards.
