Henderson County Fire Academy
Prepare for entry-level service through intensive classroom and hands-on firefighter training. No previous firefighting experience is required.
Curriculum Programs
Earn a degree, diploma, or certificate in in fire protection technology or public safety administration to serve your community.
Continuing Education
Find fire, rescue, and emergency management courses for certification, recertification, and ongoing professional development.
Henderson County Fire Academy
Begin your path toward a firefighting career through an intensive academy built around hands-on skills, teamwork, personal safety, and professional readiness.
Offered in partnership with the Henderson County Fire and Rescue Association, the Henderson County Fire Academy prepares students with the entry-level knowledge and practical skills required in the firefighting profession.
Students who successfully complete the required training may earn North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal Firefighter certification, preparing them to pursue service with fire departments locally and throughout North Carolina.

Curriculum Programs
Fire and rescue training can also become the foundation for a college credential. Develop specialized knowledge, prepare for career advancement, or build the leadership and administrative skills needed in public safety organizations.
Fire Protection Technology
The Fire Protection Technology curriculum develops technical and professional knowledge for careers and advancement in fire protection. Coursework covers areas such as fire prevention, building construction, fire protection systems, fire service organization, safety, law, and administration.
Choose the credential that best fits your experience and educational goals. Previous fire and rescue training may qualify for college credit following an individual evaluation.
High School Programs
Currently enrolled North Carolina high school students may be eligible for the Career and College Promise (CCP) program.
Public Safety Administration
The Public Safety Administration curriculum is designed for students and working professionals seeking entrance or advancement in public safety and government organizations. Coursework develops managerial, administrative, and leadership skills in areas such as public administration, emergency and incident management, and organizational operations.

Fire and Rescue Continuing Education
Maintain certifications, develop specialized skills, and stay current with training for fire, rescue, and emergency management work. Blue Ridge Community College offers continuing education courses for affiliated public safety personnel and other eligible students.
