To meet the changing needs of public safety, loss prevention, and law enforcement professionals, Blue Ridge Community College offers a wide range of training.
This August, Blue Ridge Community College has received accreditation for several law enforcement training courses through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission (CJ Standards), expanding the College’s ability to serve law enforcement agencies, officers, and students across the region. Following a successful application and inspection process, the Commission’s decision on August 14 authorized Blue Ridge to add Basic Law Enforcement Training, General Instructor, and Speed Measurement Instrument courses to its commission-approved training repertoire.
Blue Ridge Community College offers training opportunities for law enforcement, criminal justice, and private security professionals. Explore continuing education courses, online certificate programs, and upcoming training opportunities.
Prepare for entry-level law enforcement employment through intensive classroom instruction, practical exercises, physical training, and scenario-based learning. This program-certification is a prerequisite to be a sworn law enforcement officer in the state of North Carolina. Successful graduates are qualified to take the state certification examination.

The Criminal Justice Technology curriculum is designed to provide knowledge of criminal justice systems and operations. Study will focus on local, state, and federal law enforcement, judicial processes, corrections, and security services. The criminal justice system’s role within society will be explored.

The Public Safety Administration — Law Enforcement curriculum is designed to provide students, as well as practitioners, with knowledge and skills in the technical, managerial, and administrative areas necessary for entrance or advancement within various public safety and government organizations.
