It was a day of celebration and preparation for another successful year of higher education at Blue Ridge Community College. Faculty and staff gathered on Aug. 15 for the College’s Fall Convocation — the first event of its kind since August, 2019. The goal was to unify and inform Blue Ridge’s team in preparation for the new semester that begins Thursday. The convocation theme was “Together We Can.”
“As you can see, it takes a lot of us to make Blue Ridge Community College the successful institution that it is,” said Dr. Laura Leatherwood, president. “One hundred percent of you matter.”
Shortly after a special welcome by Chief of Staff Dr. David Stegall, Dr. Leatherwood spoke about the College’s recent successes, challenges, and goals. She also shared how rapid changes in the way people work, interact and consume information affect the workforce and educators.
Leatherwood’s message was live streamed between the Henderson and Transylvania County campuses, where faculty spent the afternoon planning for the return of students.
“If we’ve shown anything these past few years through many new challenges, it is that our team can,” added Dr. Leatherwood. “Together, we can make it happen. We can make our community better and create opportunities, no matter what.”
Wednesday, August 17, is the final day for fall semester class registration at Blue Ridge Community College.
