Blue Ridge Community College Summer Camps offer fun, affordable, high-quality learning opportunities for middle and high school students. Your budding car enthusiast, future welder, entrepreneur, horticulturist, hair designer, or engineer can explore and develop their skills in one- and three-day camps.

ArcStrong

Design. Fabricate. Weld.

A one-day introduction to the world of welding.

Open to rising 9th through 12th graders

Students will receive an introduction to the world of welding, emphasizing gas metal arc welding (MIG) and plasma cutting. This one-day camp includes learning a new skill while having fun at the same time. Students will see how to safely turn molten metal into unique creations, including a project they can take home with them. Now, let’s get to melting some metal!


C.A.R.

Cool. Automotive. Repair.

A one-day introduction to the world of automobiles.

Open to rising 7th through 9th graders

Students will explore automotive maintenance basics through a review of car design, roadside safety and basic car care. This one day C.A.R. camp is full of hands-on lab activities, including changing oil, checking tire pressure and identifying parts. Participants will wrap up the day with a Pit Crew Challenge.


Earth Movers

Design. Build. Enjoy.

A one-day introduction to the world of landscape design and creation.

Open to rising 9th through 12th graders

Students will get the chance to work through a landscape design and then create a garden space. They will also learn about a variety of topics related to the world of landscape design and maintenance, including equipment and tool usage, plant identification, irrigation and plant propagation. This one-day camp will be a great opportunity for students to spend time outside learning how to move some earth and beautify the world around them!


Grow & Gather

Plant. Tend. Harvest.

A one-day introduction to the world of farming and vegetable production.

Open to rising 9th through 12th graders

Students will be introduced to various aspects of farming including starting seeds, planting crops in the garden, identifying insects and learning which are beneficial, tending crops, creating compost, equipment usage and harvesting. This one-day camp will be a great opportunity for students to have some fun while learning how to produce their own food and take home seeds to grow themselves!


Hair Art and Design

A one-day camp introducing students to the creative world of beauty.

Open to rising 9th through 12th graders and 2023 graduates

Join Blue Ridge’s Cosmetology Department for a day of fun, design and creation. Campers will explore the world of hair design with hands-on mannequin work and one-on-one interaction. Discover the many exciting techniques and skills used in the cosmetology industry.


Metal Makers Academy

Dream it. Machine it.

A one-day introduction to the world of advanced manufacturing.

Open to rising 9th through 12th graders

Students will receive an introduction to computer-aided drafting and machining, emphasizing manufacturing processes in our state-of-the-art machining facility. This one-day camp combines learning new skills with having fun. Students will even get to take home one of their own metal creations! Now, let’s get machining!


Shark Tank

Explore. Create. Present.

A three-day camp introducing students to the world of entrepreneurship.

Open to rising 9th through 12th graders

Students will explore what it takes to start a successful business in a fast-paced and fun atmosphere. Students will learn idea formation, decision making, business modeling, marketing, planning and presentation skills. Come meet and hear real-life success stories from local entrepreneurs. Participants will receive awards based on presentations to a panel of Sharks!


Young Engineers Experience (YEE)

Solve. Explore. Experience.

A two-day STEM camp introducing students to the world of engineering.

Open to rising 7th through 9th graders

Camp leaders will introduce students to the exciting industry of  engineering! The YEE camp is filled with fun, hands-on activities  designed to promote problem solving and teamwork. Campers will engage in projects and demonstrations that will introduce robotics, electrical circuits, electronic soldering, hydraulics, roller coaster physics and balsa wood bridge building.


Students are responsible for their lunches, drinks, and snacks throughout the day. Please bring a refillable water bottle with a lid each day.
