Blue Ridge Community College automotive students swept the competition at the SkillsUSA West Regional Rally hosted by the College’s Henderson County campus on Feb. 17. All five award recipients in the Automotive Service Technology Career and College Promise competition represented Blue Ridge’s automotive program. The competition results underscore the value Blue Ridge places on excellence in education and workforce development.

SkillsUSA is a nonprofit national education association that serves middle-school, high-school and college/postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service (including health) occupations.

The rally had over 60 contest offerings, including events in welding, Adobe design, drafting, interview skills, and debate.

The regional win qualified the Blue Ridge students to compete in April at the state-level SkillsUSA event in Greensboro, North Carolina.
