During February’s Black History Month, Blue Ridge Community College is honoring the contributions and legacies of Black Americans through a variety of educational events and learning opportunities for the campus community. Both the Henderson County Campus and Transylvania County Campus are offering engaging activities and displays that invite students, employees, and the general public to learn more about Black history and culture.
Henderson County Campus
All month long, the Henderson County Campus Library will share curated book displays inside the Student Success Center in the Patton Building and in the library in the Killian Building.
The library will screen the movie “Hidden Figures” on February 26, 2025, at both 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Transylvania County Campus
Meanwhile, on the Transylvania County Campus (TCC), the library has assembled a dedicated Black History Month book display with materials available for checkout. In addition, both the library and TCC Student Center feature history boards highlighting aspects of Black and African American life in Transylvania County.
Every Tuesday at 3 p.m., as part of Movie Tuesday, the TCC Student Government Association and library are screening films from the Kanopy Black History Month Collection in the Student Center.
