Like all students, when it was time to make a higher education plan, Savannah Meeker had to decide what would suit her goals best.
“I’ve always wanted to go to a four-year school, and I decided to start with going to Blue Ridge because getting my associates and transferring is so cost-effective,” said Meeker. “It was also really nice to stay close to home for the first few years of college.”
Meeker is graduating this May with an Associate in Sciences. After graduating, Meeker plans to study biology before going on to get a doctorate in physical therapy.
“I’ve been interested in physical therapy from a young age,” said Meeker. “I first wanted to work with amputees, and I got a job at Care Partners Rehab. That has shown me a lot more of the field.”
Outside of the classroom, Meeker got involved with the Student Government Association (SGA) at Blue Ridge. She was asked to be the secretary, which she said lines up with her natural skills. She said while it has been a lot of fun to be involved with SGA, she especially appreciated the opportunities it has provided.
“They had us speak in front of the whole orientation group at the beginning of the year,” she said. “I was really nervous about that, but I was able to do it, and I feel like that gave me more confidence in myself.”
