Thank you for your support of the J. Daniel Furr Memorial Scholarship at Blue Ridge Community College. Sandra and Joe Furr established this fund to honor the life and memory of their son Daniel, who passed away unexpectedly in 2008. At the time of Daniel’s death, he had completed coursework at Blue Ridge Community College’s Transylvania County Campus and was a week away from transferring to Western Carolina University.

The J. Daniel Furr Memorial Scholarships provide educational resources for Brevard-area college students seeking to improve themselves through higher education. Additionally, the fund’s purpose is to prevent underage alcohol tragedies through improved communication, education, and awareness of the dangers of underage drinking.
