Cathy Childress selected as new trustee at Blue Ridge Community College

The Henderson County Board of Education recently appointed Cathy Childress, a retired Henderson County Public Schools teacher, to serve as a trustee on the Blue Ridge Community College board of trustees.

Childress is a graduate of Western Carolina University, where she earned numerous academic degrees, including: a Bachelor of Science in Education; Master of Arts in Education; and an Education Specialist degree.

During her time working with HCPS, Childress worked with students with disabilities.

“We are so excited to welcome Cathy as a trustee to Blue Ridge,” Blue Ridge President Dr. Laura Leatherwood said. “Her tenure serving our local schools in both Transylvania and Henderson Counties will offer valuable insight and inform our work. We look forward to working with her.”
