Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Adult and Dislocated Worker ProgramsGrant Term: July 1 to June 30 Eligibility: Dislocated workers, unemployed, and underemployed adults Eligible Programs: Curriculum and continuing education programs that are approved by Mountain Area Workforce Development Board Amount: Varies, generally $6000 for a long-term curriculum degree and $500 for short-term Continuing Education. Typically includes tuition/registration and textbooks. Purpose: Provide short-term and long-term training, upgrade of skills and credentials for qualifying individuals who are seeking full-time employment upon completion of training. North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union ScholarshipsGrant Term: Fall Semester and Spring Semester (5 awarded each Spring) Eligibility: Unemployed, underemployed, or veteran Eligible Programs: Continuing education courses that provide a certificate/credential. Basic Law Enforcement and some curriculum courses are considered Amount: $750 Purpose: Provide short-term training to increase employability for qualifying students.
