Henderson County/Transylvania County NCWorks partners with Blue Ridge Community College and other area businesses and organizations to offer financial aid for students enrolled in qualifying training programs.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Adult and Dislocated Worker Programs

Grant Term: July 1 to June 30
Eligibility: Dislocated workers, unemployed, and underemployed adults
Eligible Programs: Curriculum and continuing education programs that are approved by Mountain Area Workforce Development Board
Amount: Varies, generally $6000 for a long-term curriculum degree and $500 for short-term Continuing Education.
Typically includes tuition/registration and textbooks.
Purpose: Provide short-term and long-term training, upgrade of skills and credentials for qualifying individuals who are seeking full-time employment upon completion of training.

North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union Scholarships

Grant Term: Fall Semester and Spring Semester (5 awarded each Spring)
Eligibility: Unemployed, underemployed, or veteran
Eligible Programs: Continuing education courses that provide a certificate/credential. Basic Law Enforcement and some curriculum courses are considered
Amount: $750
Purpose: Provide short-term training to increase employability for qualifying students.

Golden Leaf Scholarships

Grant Term: July 1 to June 30
Eligibility: Resident of Transylvania County who meets income guidelines
Eligible Programs: Continuing education courses leading to a credential/certificate
Amount: Determined by committee; up to $500
Purpose: Financial assistance

Continuing Education Scholarships

Grant Term: On-going; determinations made first Monday of each month by campus committee
Eligibility: Continuing education students who demonstrate financial need
Eligible Programs: Continuing education courses
Amount: Determined by committee; typically registration and fees
Purpose: Financial assistance provided by BRCC Educational Foundation
