The Blue Ridge Community College Library invites the public to celebrate Preservation Week on campus this April 1 – 4, 2025. The planned festivities on two campuses include a documentary showing, discussion, two local history fairs, and Student Life activities.

The American Library Association held the first Preservation Week in 2010 to raise national awareness about the importance of preserving historical and cultural records.

Blue Ridge Community College Library archivist Rachel Quinn said the success of Blue Ridge’s local Preservation Week celebrations since 2023 have underscored the community’s eagerness to preserve history while connecting with one another.

“The enthusiasm we’ve seen around Preservation Week shows us that people are eager to learn more about local history,” said Quinn, “and the fairs provide great venues for us to highlight the work of dozens of organizations from Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania Counties.”

As part of Preservation Week, Local History Fairs will be held on Blue Ridge’s Henderson County Campus (HCC) and Transylvania County Campus (TCC). The fairs will feature numerous local organizations ready to discuss and display historical information.

Preservation Week activities are open to the public. Year-round, Blue Ridge’s Henderson County Campus Library is also open to the public.
